Iron Man 2

All corporate CEOs deserve to have beachfront mansions in Malibu, gaudy parties, beautiful women, no work and all play. They deserve it. We owe it to them.

Stark has no humility, no weaknesses, no soul, no conscience, no bald spot, not even a buxom babe — just himself. Narcissism squared. How very boring.

This is one long, endless trailer with the sole intention of selling toys and movie posters to kids and their clueless, absentee parents. This is the product of a screenwriter who gets paid by the cost to make his movie, not the content. If your child is narcissistic before he watches this flick, he’ll be irreversibly so after.

Evil geniuses, fortunately, are brave enough to risk all to avenge their poor, dead fathers — strong enough to pull it off — and honorable enough to be willing to die in the doing. Tell me again…

What’s so evil about avenging the mega-conglomerate that ripped off your old man, threw him in a Gulag, and destroyed his family? Oh, sorry. Corporations have a license to do just that any more.

Used to be, it took an American entrepreneur with a cutting torch and an ax to grind against the Evil Empire to create an Iron Man suit from a pile of recycled, rusting steel. These days anybody who does that sort of thing is a psychotic reprobate on the east bank of the Slovak River with revenge in his heart of hearts, against American corporate might. How dare he!

Where have you been for the last ten years? American manufacturing is dead and buried. We’re a service economy. We service everybody’s anything anytime anywhere.

The U.S. military is just like big business any more. They’d rather spend billions on robotic assembly lines — no unions, no health insurance, or even wages — just electricity, grease, and computer code. Robo-soldiers will even work 24/7/365 without overtime, hazardous duty pay, vacations, or management issues.

The military adores mindless mule drones. If they could make a million of them, they would do just that, and a million more. Testosterone is an illegal performance-enhancing drug any more. Just ask the 80% of high school boys who are too obese, too unfit, and too nonathletic to even qualify for day one in Army boot camp. The other 30% don’t have the smarts.

They all adulate Iron Man, though. That’s got to be worth something, doesn’t it, Sarge?

It takes Iron Man, Stark Enterprises, a secret organization of superheroes, and the whole U.S. military to take down Rust Man.

I want to be Rust Man! He’s got compassion for birds, and he honors his father. He’s got the scrappiness to make a pile of junk metal into a flying machine, all by his self.

I want a Rust Man poster, Mommy!!!!
