U.S. Conducts Underground Nuclear Test in Nevada

If it weren’t for Iran’s vigilance nobody would have known the U.S. conducted a “sub-critical” underground nuclear test in Nevada last week.

As it were, The Hill ran a story, not about the tests but about Iran’s objections thereto.

It does seem disingenuous for America to keep conducting these tests and to then project a public facade seeking nuclear disarmament.

The above photo shows the Nevada Test site.

What does sub-critical mean anyway?  Nukes are a hundred, maybe even a thousand times, more potent than they were back when Fat Man and Little Boy were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.  Is a sub-critical bomb only fifty times more potent?  A hundred maybe?

Liberals no doubt admire this “show of strength” by the Obama administration. We’ll show Iran who has the cojones in the world!

Speaking of Iran, the Manhattan Project back then wasn’t a secret lab under the football stadium in Chicago.  It was 44 factories all over the U.S. that employed 200,000 people.  The uranium enrichment facility in Oak Ridge Tennessee employed 82,000 people in the largest factory in the world.

Granted, enrichment technology has improved somewhat, but it’s still just taking tens of thousands of tons of raw ore and extracting a couple of ounces of U-235.  In other words, Iran’s nuclear facilities are huge, I mean HUGE, massive, humongous, gigantic…  We still can’t see them via satellite surveillance?  Right.  Sure.

North Korea is the new focus of our fears.  Anything but Iran!  First Libya got our attention, then Hamas in Gaza, then Syria, new riots in Egypt – back to Iran for a millisecond; then North Korea launches a ballistic missile.

Not to worry, North Korea doesn’t have the capability to build a small enough nuclear weapon to fit on an intercontinental ballistic missile.

Dream on….  It was almost ten years ago that the Chinese stole our entire catalog of nuclear warhead designs from Los Alamos. There was a short investigation, and one low ranking Asian scientist was charged. That was the end of it.

I did some digging around back then. I was told by a military security expert that super-highly classified secrets like that are extremely compartmentalized. There is no way one individual could ever get access to tens of thousands of highly classified designs. Dozens, if not hundreds, of scientists would have had to pool their access to get hold of the whole kit and caboodle.

I guess we had to test our latest nuclear designs to be sure the Chinese get their money’s worth next time they abscond with our technology.

North Korea is to China as Israel is to the United States.  What China has, North Korea has.  What North Korea has, North Korea makes better.

The “Iron Dome” missile defense Israel has is far superior to our own Patriot Missile Defense system. The Iron Dome stopped 95% of the missiles from Hamas.  Our own missile defense has trouble taking out a missile fired from a known location on a known trajectory.

(And Israel refuses to give us the design – and you wonder why not?  The ChicComs, is why not.)

Sarah Palin can see North Korea from her back yard.

I wonder if she saw their missile launch?
