I cringe every time I hear people refer to Apple or Microsoft or Google as tech companies. Don’t be ridiculous!
Google searches are a single algorithm, one equation.
The only improvements Google has made in a decade are subliminal ways to track you and your searches. Their “secret code” has created a detailed profile of you. They tailor all your search results so you find what you want faster and buy it faster with fewer clicks so merchants get a higher click through rate on their advertising.
Apple’s products track where you are every second of every day. They claim this is to make their new mapping software more efficient, or so you can turn on your iPhone and find any “friends” that are nearby, friends who are also being tracked by their iPhones 24/7.
Police can download this data file from your phone when they stop you for any minor transgression. They can access this data without a warrant. (They can even download it via wireless without you even knowing.) Even with a warrant, that extreme amount of detail about your life over such an extended length of time shouldn’t be accessible to anyone but God.
Microsoft regularly downloads so many “updates” to your PC you have to wonder what’s going on. You still need constant virus and malware monitoring – even then, you still get slammed by viruses on a regular basis. It’s so easy for hackers to get all your passwords and personal data from your PC.
I use a disturbing number of programs that have actually de-evolved over the years. I keep Windows XP on several machines just to keep operating the original version of the software.
The only advancements in tech stocks are new ways to charge you for internet access. Facebook made the original developers billionaires (and the loyal users into sexual and social eunuchs). Google stores the searches you do – then pop up ads show up everywhere you go after that for that product or service. Paranoia!
It’s enough to give you the heebie jeebies. You do one search for “pool spas” and for the next week you’re inundated with ads from “Endless Pools” and other vendors. The internet has become a ruthless, relentless marketing behemoth.
Who gave Google permission to record all my searches? Who gave gmail permission to use my emails as fodder for their algorithms to generate consumer profiles for Big Brother businesses selling cheap Made in China products, if not to me, then to millions of other more gullible folks with the same interest or personality profile?
I don’t even know these people, and I’m driving them to a purchasing frenzy and maybe even to eventual bankruptcy? To alcohol or drug abuse, divorce, suicide?
Why the constant Windows operating system upgrades? My old wordpress theme has a core program and an outer shell for the theme you see. All Chevies used to have the same tranny and one of just a few engine blocks.
Why do we have to buy a whole new machine (I shutter to even call Windows a machine) every 2 years? So 100,000 Chinese programmers can re-write a billion lines of code with each new “upgrade”? With ten thousand new bugs that a million hackers around the world can use to make my life miserable?
The only solution is not to use all this technology crap anymore. Where’s my old IBM selectric… Yes!
