Secret agents are the best that humanity has to offer. In the “Age of Narcissism,” where everything is about “me,” secret agents do the unthinkable — they hide their skills, their talents, and live a mundane life out of the limelight.

Not something you would expect a Hollywood icon like Angelina Jolie to be good at…

The most intelligent, most morally superior, most highly skilled among us live humble, simple lives beyond the glare of all the acclaim and glory they would otherwise achieve in life.

I wonder sometimes,  if our leaders deserve such high quality protection.  Leaders who play golf while Rome burns.  Leaders who read all their grandiose words from a teleprompter, never really meaning a word they say — not even remembering anything the very next day.

Eisenhower had a White House staff of less than 20.  Mrs. Obama has a larger personal staff than that.  Obama himself has thousands, including over 100 “czars,” each with their own “staff of 20.”   There are 6500 Secret Service employees now, 3400 of them Agents.

Maybe if they were less invulnerable, our leaders wouldn’t do things to make so many people hate them so much.

Leaders who run up an intolerable $16 trillion national debt, who spend $3 trillion to defeat a petty dictatorship in Iraq, $1 trillion in Afghanistan (where the only visible result is that Afghanistan once again supplies 95% of the world’s heroin), and steal $2.8 trillion from our Social Security Trust fund then say it’s so bankrupt they have to gut all our future benefits.

What must it feel like, for the President, to be surrounded by such fine men and women in the Secret Service — the best of the best of the best, willing to sacrifice their very lives for you?

It must be hard not to think yourself a God.

Heil to the Chief.
