How come welfare isn’t on the chopping block in all these debt negotiations in Washington DC? The states and the federal government spend trillions every year on welfare.
Why is it untouchable?
Perhaps a little history will help explain…
Everybody remembers (or knows about) the protests in America against the war in Vietnam that ravaged the 60s and early 70s. The Civil Rights movement happened at the same time, with violent race riots in every major city of America.
HINT: John Kerry the navy officer-turned-hippie-Vietnam-war protestor (and now a bona fide billionaire) has just been nominated for Secretary of State to replace Hillary Clinton.
The United States was fighting three wars on two fronts during this time. The liberal academic community resolved to settle one of those wars. They decided that giving money to the blacks would be cheaper than paying for all the damage caused by the riots. Thus was born welfare.
Hundreds of programs have since evolved in the name of welfare. The initial cost was a couple hundred million dollars. Now the states and the federal government pay out over $1.5 trillion each year in welfare.
The biggest problem in stopping the riots back then was catching the perpetrators. Criminology has evolved since then, and the odds have shifted in favor of the authorities. We no longer need to pay blacks not to riot. We have the very real threat of imprisonment.
Back then, it was a given that no matter how badly they behaved, blacks would have good jobs. That’s not the case any more. Illegal immigrants compete for the same jobs, accepting lower wages, no benefits and any sort of working conditions.
Foreign workers are even cheaper than illegals. They are more accessible and more competitive so every major company in the U.S. is sending work overseas.
The Civil Rights legislation was wrong to begin with, and the welfare state it has created is even more wrong. Liberals go berserk any time somebody even hints about cutting back welfare programs. They accuse conservatives of wanting to roll back the “progress” in Civil Rights of the last fifty years. Define progress!
We’re not doing black people any favors by giving them a free ride. We’re only destroying the nation that the 60s race riots were intent on doing in the first place.
Blacks hate America as much as ever.
Liberals do, too.
