Walmart announced plans today to hire any veteran who applies for a job within 12 months of being honorably discharged. Their goal is to hire 100,000 veterans in the next five years.
Semper fi, Walmart.

The liberal blogosphere exploded with bitter criticism after the announcement. My God, how the drive-by media hates the military and veterans in particular.
Walmart’s just doing it to make up for all the bad publicity over the walkouts late last year. The wages at Walmart are piss poor, and the working conditions are horrific. Who wants to work at Walmart?
I think it’s a damn smart move by Walmart. Veterans are honest, hardworking individuals. They know how to take orders,. They are skilled leaders and managers, and they have the best interpersonal and teambuilding skills money can buy.
Sure, they’ll start off at minimum wage, $11.50 to $8.80 an hour depending on where you live. They’ll get a raise within a month and be in management within a year.
Veterans are going to transform Walmart into the most beloved store around. I can’t wait to see them working at my local Walmart. I’m tired of the lazy, hohum black workers who are the norm.

I used to work as a night stocker at a grocery store. I put more crap in the shelves in half an hour than Walmart’s haughty, aloof, unfriendly stockers do for their entire shift. Veterans have a strong work ethic. They love hard work, and they don’t shy away from competition.
Veterans have the honest trust in management that their efforts will be rewarded. They won’t whine or strike or expect respect from the customers the way over-paid and under-qualifed blacks at my local Walmart do.
I hope Walmart hires black veterans to work alongside the welfare blacks to show them what a good worker looks like. I hope all veterans show Walmart what the American work ethic is like.
Hell, I hope Walmart’s profits go up so much, they show Wall Street what American workers can do period.
Thank you Walmart, for doing the right thing.
You won’t regret it, not one bit.
Oorah !
