In just the last couple of days one of the fish in my downstairs aquarium of community fish has that condition where they lose equilibrium. He drifts around like a limp bit of orange flotsam with black fins and bulging eyes. He perks right up at feeding time, then languishes away and goes with the flow.
I guess that’s what retirement will be like.
I have another fish in my predator aquarium upstairs who sleeps upside down all the time. Been doing that for years.
The political impasse in Washington has a lot of human beings feeling that way now. The media are certainly discombobulated, that’s for damn sure. Fox News types have the disease bad, falling all over themselves in praise of his holiness Barry Hussein Obama.
Politicians act just like guppies with a memory cache of less than 10 seconds.
The first person I saw after the election was a hispanic commentator on Fox News who was waxing on about how it’s our patriotic obligation to rally behind Obama and make everything right.
Say what? A hispanic pundit lecturing us about patriotism, when 20 million of his in-laws are here illegally, when 5 million of them voted in the election, 2 million of them in swing states that won the day for Obama?
He’s a regular on Fox News now. Didn’t you hear? Hispanics rule.
I guess the new status quo now, like with every single solitary black you see on TV in any function raves about Obama – now we can expect the same for all the hispanic commentators.
It never registered with me before, whether a news anchor was black or not; now it rankles because they’re so tactlessly partisan. At least white liberals do it with some class; that is, disparage their own racial identity – they excel at that.
(I refuse to capitalize hispanic any more. It’s not a proper noun any more because they aren’t a proper racial entity.)
It’s the new racism, I suppose. Obama is teaching all of us by example how to be bigots and racists. How to hate women and Catholics and anybody anywhere who is different than us. How to hate Jesus and unborn babies.
Most of all how to adore terrorists and how to admire filthy rich people who have the gumption to stand up and shame all his ghetto diatribes with cutting, hard boiled logic.
Still can’t get my fish to procreate like Hispanics (or rabbits, as the case may be).
Fish are smarter than that.
