Methane contributes to global warming. Its Global Warming Potential is 72 times that of carbon dioxide. Back in 2008, scientists in Argentina strapped big plastic bags on cows to capture their flatulence so they could determine how it contributes to global warming. Here are the latest numbers:
“Enteric fermentation” by ruminant (grazing) animals like cows and sheep contributes 12% of the total methane generated by human-related activities.
The largest source is natural gas production, followed by enteric fermentation, landfills, coal mining, manure management, wastewater treatment, forest management and rice cultivation. You can see all the hard numbers here.

The new 45% death tax is scheduled to go up to 60% for estates of over $10 million. That will destroy the few family farms that remain in the United States. Their “wealth” is the land they need to raise crops and graze livestock…
Why not drive the stake even deeper by penalizing farmers for the methane produced by cows, sheep and other livestock – by manure piles and rotting produce – you name it?
Next on their list is a global tax on homeowners for the methane produced by termites.
